REFS

Simplified reformer configuration

Picture1

Reforming units have four sections

  • Naphtha hydrofining section, removing sulfur and removing light components (C6-)
Our distillation GDS model can help control the naphtha splitter
  • Reactor section, converting paraffinic molecules to high octane aromatics.
Our reformer REFS model can help in two ways:
    • set reaction severity to control reformate RON and/or aromatic content
    • Predict the amount of coke, estimating future regenerator loading
  • Gas plant, separating out byproduct LPG from reformate.
Again, our distillation GDS model can help control the gas plant
  • Regenerator section, removing carbon from the catalyst by controlled combustion.
Inference of coke on catalyst by our inferential model REFS can help controlling the regenerator

REFS (reformer severity inference)

  • Octane, aromatics and coke deposit prediction
  • For example, RON = function of
    • Bed temperatures
    • Pressure
    • Throughput
    • Feed density
    • Average boiling point
  • No PNA input.  The model predicts PNA
